GRADUATIONS

Verena Pritchard graduated with a PhD (Psychology) from the University of Canterbury on December 21st, 2007. Her thesis was titled: “Identity-based negative priming: Individual differences in typical and atypical development”.

Julian Maclaren graduated with a PhD from the University of Canterbury. His thesis was titled: “Motion detection and correction in magnetic resonance imaging”. The overseas examiner for the thesis was Dr Jim Pipe, well known in MRI circles as the inventor of the PROPELLER (also known as BLADE) motion correction algorithm. Julian has now taken up a postdoctoral research position in Freiburg, Germany, in the laboratory of another MRI celebrity, Dr Juergen Hennig.

APPOINTMENTS

Richard Jones was appointed a Co-Chair of the ‘Neural Engineering, Neuromuscular Systems & Rehabilitation Engineering’ Theme at the 30th Annual International Conference of IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC 2008), 20-24 August 2008, Vancouver.
